MOTIVATION TO EXERCISE - PERFECT WORKOUT - PERFECT WORLD

What happens when you decide to do a workout?

In a perfect world, there's a perfect time (which you, of course, have available) where you get your perfectly organized self (who, of course, is always on top of things) and go have yourself a perfect workout.
In the real world, there is no perfect time or perfect organization or perfect anything. In fact, your mind will argue with you, going through a series of mental gymnastics that, were your body to try those moves, would result in permanent injury.
I know you're tired, bored and don't have time — but we also know those are just the excuses that keep you from hitting the gym.

Here's an example:
"Okay, I'll train after work. But, wait, I forgot to wash my gym clothes, so that means I'll have to do laundry before bed. And I don't have anything to snack on before my workout, so I have to stop by the store on the way to work, which means I have to leave 15 minutes early, which means getting up 15 minutes early, which means going to bed 15 minutes early and..."

A training session seems like an easy prospect on its face, but most of us have to jump through some logistical hoops to make it work. There's obviously a certain amount of planning involved, but we sometimes make it much more complicated than it has to be.

Are you doing this to deliberately sabotage yourselves?
Most of my clients constantly struggle with a chaotic morning schedule, a chronic fatigue after work and a vague promise of "I'll train, I will do my diary, I will use my phone app for the calories, I will do this and I will do that… but when I find the time."
The truth is, do you REALLY want to exercise, do you REALLY want to be healthier, leaner, and stronger?

If it is a YES, then STOP the excuses and find a solution!!!

  • Eat early - Turn of your TV well before bed  - Get some sleep
  • Put your workout clothes next to your bed the night before. Get up and put it on before leaving the bedroom. Brush your teeth, splash water on your face. Do NOT look at yourself in the mirror, as your tired face will try to convince you to go back to bed.
  • Don’t think too much (day dreaming around the house) just close the door and go
  • If exercising at home JUST push whatever buttons make the treadmill go and begin walking. Keep walking until at least 10 minutes has passed. Do all of this without thinking about it. As you mind will say - This is awful, I'm tired, I want to go back to bed -  just say to yourself, "I'm not allowed to think about that."
  • If exercising after work – DO NOT GO HOME – go straight to the gym. As you might never leave house again.
  • Listen to music - Plan your tracks > warm up , main workout and cool down
  • Make a date with a workout buddy – are you going to let him/her down?
  • Write your goals down and set a date to accomplish them
  • Have a calendar on the wall with days/times you are exercising. Set it on your phone, tablet etc… Set a reminder!
  •  It takes some practice and, of course, it is not always perfect, but taking the mind out of it makes it easier just to get going. Sometimes you really do have to – JUST DO IT.

Remember,
Winners find a way, losers find an excuse!

How does your mind try to talk you out of exercising and how do you deal with it? How you do it?
